Ford’s first hybrid pickup truck

Ford’s first hybrid pickup truck

Even though the Maverick name was initially utilized on an inferior compact vehicle lineup in the 1970s, Ford is using the name again for the latest small pickup truck which is below the midsize Ranger.

The Maverick has the same chassis as the Bronco Sport compact crossover. By all means, this hybrid pickup truck is a trendsetter and an innovator. It is the best of both worlds because it is compact on the outside but spacious on the inside to accommodate 5 passengers and store all the luggage. Power and Towing

The standard powertrain is a hybrid containing a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine, a CVT transmission, a front wheel drive and an electric motor. 191 hp is the power output. The automaker offers all wheel drive but only with the optional turbocharged non-hybrid 2 liter 4 cylinder engine which delivers 250 horses and 8 speed automatic transmission.

The same 4 doors with cab body style and a 4.5 foot bed is seen in all models. The Ford Maverick is built to seize the day. This Built Ford Tough truck provides an excellent targeted EPA approved 40 mpg in the city.

Even in the entry level hybrid powertrain, the payload capacity of the Maverick is 1500 pounds and towing capacity of 2000 pounds.

A 4000 towing capacity can be achieved with the optional Towing Package and a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. Multi position tailgate and standard smart storage solutions are capable of supporting your luggage.

The inside scoop

All the models of Maverick are crew cabs. This points to 4 full sized doors and a comfy back seat. A lot of storage and bins are included in the entire cabin including the huge parts under the back seat. The standard models are anything but plush but they feature some niceties.

For instance, a remote keyless entry, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, adjustable lumbar support for the front seats and audio control. On the XLT and Lariat trim levels, more features are given in the standard of optional packages.

They also include ambient cabin lighting, dual zone automatic climate control, and power front seats. According to Ford, the 4.5 foot bed of Maverick can accommodate 18 sheets of 4×8 foot 3 quarter inches plywood without loading them at any angle. This bed also displays a 12 volt power point with an optional 110 volt outlet.

An 8 inches touchscreen is given on all the models. The standard features in all models are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The base model has the standard feature of an onboard WiFi hotspot.

In the optional equipment, there is an upgraded 8 speaker B&O Play stereo system, SiriusXM satellite radio and a wireless smartphone charging pad. You can work anywhere with the personal 4G LTE powered by FordPass Connect and AT&T inside the vehicle.
