History about Blue Bell Ice Cream

At the beginning of its operations in 1907, the blue bell was known as Brenham Creamery Company. It was more like a butter selling business. Local farmers used to sell their excess cream to this new company. In turn, Brenham Creamery Company would make use of that cream to produce butter to sell around Texas.

Interestingly, they used to make a small amount of ice cream as well to increase their production line. Operated under E.F. Kruse, Company flourished and thus they changed the name it. Kruse renamed it after a wildflower that grows in Texas and flourishes during summer, much like its ice cream business.

Around the 1960s, Company only focused on producing gallons after gallon ice cream after shunning butter production. As the people started consuming more and more blue bell.
